WEBJun 8, 2021 · There absolutely are alternatives. I was cloud gaming two/three years ago before I even knew Shadow existed. Paperspace is the easiest alternative and likely cheaper than Shadow as long as you remember to shut down your computer when you're done. The second and better solution is building your own AWS EC2.

WEBAug 10, 2022 · Use Parsec to stream from that machine. It's nowhere near as turnkey as Shadow but it works great and is billed per-minute (with a flat fee on top for storage). For my light usage it works out much much cheaper than Shadow. I do seriously miss the old Shadow though! 3.

WEBJan 23, 2021 · There's no timeouts, no wait time to login when they are busy as the hardware is dedicated to you (unlike shadow) Or you can wait a year to get activated, share your hardware, and get timed out when you go to the bathroom for more than the alloted 60 seconds of inactivity on shadow. Edit - the 60 second timer is on shadow.

To see if it works, I setup a Google Cloud PC with a GPU and connected to Singapore. Even with the lag (I'm in Hong Kong), it was GREAT! PlutoSphere is a desktop that you connect to using your preferred remote gaming client, which means you can use it for anything and not specifically gaming or virtual reality. WEBYes, a real PC. Shadow is about as good as it gets. I think Paperspace has some higher tiers, but you pay per hour there and for extra storage, so not really worth it. I basically caved today and ordered a new desktop that will arrive on the 22nd once i learned the news. I9 10900k processor, 32gb ram, RTX 3070.
