Hi, We are coming from Los Angeles. I read in one review that altitude sickness can be a problem. Anyone out there from lower altitudes have experiences to share?

I've never encountered altitude sickness at Mt. Rose or anywhere, and I regularly backpack at altitudes of 8,000-10,000 feet. It won't be an issue.
Will stay at the Grand how far away is the resort if we were to drive and will there be snow? Plan to be there July 18-31, 2017

Hello adventurer! It will take approximately 20-25 min. To get to Mt Rose from GSR. Another 10 to Chickadee Ridge. I would speculate there will still be snow in a month. We just got 5-6 inches in the higher elevations last weekend. I suggest calling Mt. Rose to make sure they are still open for rentals. If not, Squaw and Alpine have announced that they are open until sept. You'd probably be able to rent shoes there, and explore different trails. All absolutely beautiful! Have tons of mountain fun!
