The ride up was thrilling. We took a short hike in the woods at the top. It was so fun to be in snow and the shade of majestic pines after having been in the desert heat. There was a longer hike we…Full review by Susan S

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Felt like Colorado--only 100 miles from San Diego. We hiked from the Ranger Station and couldn't believe how awesome this place was. On a short trip wi…Full review by Robert D

Hello, late reply oops. The tram has been closed due to road damage from Feb 14, 2019. Hwy 247 is also closed for another 2 months. There is a ton of snow on the mountain.
Hi! Has anyone visited in Dec 2018, is there snow? We are visiting Palm Springs and learned that they get snow up here. Thanks!

Hello, we visited today December 19th and there was definitely plenty of snow on top. It was a warm 26 degrees (Celsius) at the bottom of the mountain and a cooler 11 degrees up top - although we found that walking around up there we soon warmed up. Make sure you wear shoes with a good grip though as lots of the trails are snow covered and can get slippery.
We are travelling to Palm Springs in September and the tram will be closed for its annual maintenance. We would like to do the hike. Is there another alternative to get to the summit besides the tram? Thanks for your answers.

20 minutes. There are no seats and the floor of the gondola slowly rotates as you ascend or descend in order to give the passengers the best all around view of the mountain. Be aware that each time the gondola goes by one of the support towers, the gondola suddenly drops three feet. Its perfectly safe but a little scare. I strongly recomend holding onto the railing.
