CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - 19 First Alert Weather Days have been activated through Saturday to account for tricky travel conditions and higher snowfall accumulation across our primary snowbelt to begin the new year.

Severe storms are expected anywhere between 11am-11pm with the bulk of the system moving through between 2pm-7pm.

The bigger story headlines in the weather department will be the gusty winds ahead which will lead to much colder air.

Prolonged gusty winds on the order of 40-55+ MPH may lead to isolated power outages and/or wind damage through the rest of today. The latest reports from this morning show that much of the region is already gusting to the advisory criteria.

STRONGER WIND GUSTS THURSDAY The weather continues to get colder. Luckily, it will come with brighter skies too. Expect sunshine throughout the day, but it will be windy, with gusts reaching 45-55 mph with some isolated gusts as high as 60 mph.
