Ryan Borgwardt, a married father of three, has been missing since August after leaving for a relaxing fishing trip on Green Lake, about an hour north of his home in Watertown, Wisconsin. Investigators now suspect the experienced kayaker faked his own death and fled to Europe via Canada.

Authorities now believe a Watertown man who was reported missing while kayaking is alive and likely staged his own death before fleeing the country.

A dramatic twist was revealed in the search for a missing kayaker in Wisconsin, the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office said. Ryan Borgwardt of Watertown went missing on August 12 after going on a kayaking trip in Green Lake.
