A dream come true, a nice feeling. The maiden Chess Olympiad gold meant different things for the members of the five-strong Indian men's team, spearheaded stupendously by the youngest ever challenger to the world title -- D Gukesh.

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh on Tuesday said he approached the recently-concluded Chess Olympiad as an individual event while expressing satisfaction with his performance ahead of the eagerly-awaited World Championship in November.

Chess grandmaster D Gukesh arrived at Chennai airport on Tuesday after winning double Gold medal for India in the Chess Olympiad 2024, in Budapest. Gukesh expressed that he is looking forward to the World Championship which is going to happen in November.

Both the Indian men's and women's teams scripted history on Sunday, winning their maiden gold medals in the Chess Olympiad in Hungary.

The celebrations at the prize distribution, where Tania Sachdev and Gukesh recreated the iconic Lionel Messi walk proved how much both teams wanted the gold medals.
