SpaceX will attempt an early-morning Falcon 9 launch from Florida’s Space Coast, carrying another batch of Starlink satellites.

After a week of nasty weather across Florida, the business of launching rockets got back on track Monday afternoon. A SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted off at 5:05 p.m. Eastern time from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 40 carrying 21 of the company’s Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit.

Athena, the second lunar lander from Intuitive Machines, is set to launch soon, carrying NASA payloads and Nokia's first-ever moon-based 4G network.

By comparison, last year's total of 93 orbital rocket launches breezed to a new Florida annual record. The former record was 72 launches in 2023.

The company hopes to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center. The rocket will carry and send the SpainSat NG I, a Spanish telecommunications satellite, into orbit. If needed, SpaceX has arranged for a backup launch window for Thursday night.

About eight minutes later, the first stage returned to Earth and touched down in the Pacific Ocean on the SpaceX's drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You." The upper stage carried the satellites to low Earth orbit 61 minutes after liftoff.
