Texas Sen. John Cornyn outraised his Republican challenger, Attorney General Ken Paxton, by $1 million during the first three months of what’s becoming one of the most hotly contested primary battles of the 2026 midterm elections.

Cornyn will need to use his deep coffers to overcome an early polling deficit to Paxton, who is looking to deny the GOP incumbent’s bid for a fifth term.

Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) reelection campaign announced Monday that he raised more than $3.9 million in the second quarter of the year, surpassing the sum raised by his top primary rival. The haul includes money raised from Cornyn’s campaign and associated Cornyn Victory Fund.
