Connecticut warming centers were funded by COVID-19 relief dollars, which are set to expire. Shelter organizers are worried about how they will keep their doors open.

As temperatures drop across the region, several warming centers have opened in El Paso County and Las Cruces ahead of this week's cold temperatures.

Roughly 20 sites across the city are open during the day, during the night or 24/7. City officials say everyone is welcome.

Though the City of Houston declined to open warming centers during this week's cold snap, several nonprofits are offering resources for Houstonians in need. Philadelphia has opened 20 new warming centers for people who need them during the city's Code Blue emergency. While the snow has moved out, bitterly cold temperatures and biting winds have moved in.

Philadelphia city officials are providing more details into its the Code Blue Warming Center initiative which provides 20 warming centers open across the city—including one in every neighborhood and council district.
