The Alabama high school basketball season is officially into the postseason as area tournaments kick off around the state. Area tournaments can get started on Thursday and go through Wednesday for Class 1A-6A. Class 7A, with its lack of sub regional play, gets its area tournaments start on Feb.5 and goes through the 8th.

Friday’s girls AHSAA Class 6A-1A sub-regional games and Class 7A area finals set the field — still some games to be played on Saturday — for next week’s regional action. Boys sub-regional games and most Class 7A area finals are scheduled to be played on Saturday.

Ahead of sub-regionals, regionals and the state tournament, here are important dates and locations for the 2025 Alabama high school basketball postseason. Area tournaments: Classes 1A-6A: Jan. 30-Feb. 5, Class 7A: Feb. 5-8 (Hosted by top seeds in area)

AHSAA Class 6A-1A pairings for sub-regional basketball games are set, with the exception of two boys games, after area tournament action on Wednesday. Class 1A, Area 5 Keith vs. R.C. Hatch and Class 2A, Area 5 Calhoun vs. Central-Hayneville will be played on Thursday to round out the field.
