A 16-member Assam Police team, following directions from Google Maps, strayed into Nagaland during a raid when they were attacked and captured by local residents who mistook them for criminals.

An Assam Police team mistakenly crossed into Nagaland guided by Google Maps and got detained by locals who mistook them for criminals. The officers were released after a night in captivity.

According to a senior official of Assam Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when a team of the Jorhat District Police was carrying out a raid to apprehend an accused.
