Amazon’s Prime Video is getting a new generative AI-powered feature to help catch you up on a show. The new tool, called X-Ray Recaps, can create text summaries of “of full seasons of TV shows, single episodes, and even pieces of episodes,” the company says in a blog post.

Using custom Amazon AI models trained on the video segments, subtitles and dialogue of the Prime Video library, it can create descriptions of key events, places, times and even conversations. It then applies guardrails to ensure it is spoiler-free and easy to read at a distance.

X-Ray Recaps provide AI-generated, spoiler-free summaries of previous episodes or seasons. The feature is currently being tested in beta on Fire TV.

Prime Video will also air Election Night Live with Brian Williams on Nov. 5 and the platform's second Black Friday matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs (Nov. 29) in addition to the ongoing Thursday Night Football broadcast.

Now Amazon Prime Video is extending that X-Ray feature a step further by summarizing full episodes or even entire seasons of TV through the push of a button. The company is calling it “X-Ray Recaps,” and it’s available now in Beta version on Amazon MGM Originals and for Fire TV users specifically.

Instead of scouring the internet for a summary of a TV show, which often risks unintentionally revealing major plot points, Prime Video’s latest feature aims to save viewers from encountering any spoilers.
