ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Tens of thousands of people in New Mexico were without power Thursday as the first major winter storm of the season rolled across the northern two-thirds of the state, bringing with it snow and fierce winds that forced schools and government offices to close.

Some areas of New Mexico have already seen over 2 feet of snow, and it's going to keep falling into Saturday. Here's the forecast.

The low-pressure system causing the widespread snow and rain moved into New Mexico from southeast Arizona early this morning. As we head into Friday, this storm will continue to drop several inches of snow across the state before the low moves out of New Mexico by Saturday afternoon.
