Anyone on the No Fly List is banned from flying on commercial aircraft to or from the U.S. Additionally, they’re not allowed to fly, commercially, over the U.S.
But making a "no-fly" list of disruptive passengers may be impractical when you start thinking about it. There may be a more effective way to deal with difficult air travelers.
The Intercept in 2014 previously reported that the No Fly List held more than 47,000 names. In 2016, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) suggested that over 81,000 people were on the list.
The real question, though, is whether the no-fly list is the right tool. Until the federal government cleans up the list and the process, the answer is no.
