The cookware manufacturers argue the primary type of PFAS being used as a nonstick coating, PTFE, does not harm human health or the environment.

The complaint claims the law discriminates against out-of-state commerce and imposes a burden on interstate commerce. It also alleges the law violates the Commerce Clause in the Constitution.

The law requires new products sold or distributed in 11 categories be made without PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals."
