AMITE, La. (WAFB) - Two of the victims of a triple homicide in St. Helena Parish were children, investigators said. The killings happened a home located at 1599 Sawmill Road in Amite just before 5 p.m. Thursday January 9.

Two of the victims of a triple homicide in St. Helena Parish were children, a source tells WAFB.The victims, who were all related, include a one-year-old, a ten-year-old and an adult, the source said.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the 1500 block of Sawmill Road or Par Road 37, just off of Leonard Chapel Road in Amite about an apparent triple homicide around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. One suspect is currently in the sheriff’s office’s custody at this time.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. deputies with St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apparent triple homicide at 1599 Sawmill Road in Amite.

The Juneau County Sheriff's Office reports missing and wanted man Virgil Thew has been caught and is in police custody.
