After becoming the betting favorite to land the Cowboys’ head coach job, Brian Schottenheimer has all of the buzz in Frisco.

The Dallas Cowboys completed an internal interview with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer on Tuesday night in their search to replace former coach Mike McCarthy. Schottenheimer is the first known internal candidate to interview for the head coaching job.

Brian Schottenheimer, the Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator, has over two decades of NFL coaching experience and a strong football pedigree as the son of legendary coach Marty Schottenheimer. He began his NFL coaching career in 1997 and has since held roles with teams like the Chargers, Jets, and Seahawks.

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to interview offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for their head coaching gig, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater reported.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer are scheduled to meet this week, with the longtime assistant viewed as a legitimate candidate to replace Mike McCarthy as head coach in Dallas.

The list of candidates for the Cowboys’ head coaching position continues to grow. As Dallas ' search continues, an in-house staffer will be the next to be considered.
