The Department of Homeland Security has extended the temporary protected status designations for Venezuelans and El Salvadorans by 18 months.

The arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials occurred during a 33-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday.

A bill targeting squatters, spurred in part by worries about Latino immigrants taking over vacant dwellings, has received a positive committee recommendation.
