Smoke from wildfires in Canada is creating overcast skies and unhealthy air quality in parts of Minnesota, raising health concerns.

You’re not imagining that campfire smell — thick smoke from Canadian wildfires has settled over Minnesota again, with air quality now unhealthy for everyone.

An air quality alert is still in effect until 9 am Monday for the state of Minnesota. Air quality for Monday is looking to be better, but again, some smoke will still be around, so air quality is forecasted to be at a moderate level.

MINNEAPOLIS — Poor air quality in the Twin Cities due to Canadian wildfire smoke has caused the KARE 11 Weather team to issue a Weather Impact Alert. The alert is in effect now and will continue until 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Scattered showers and storms are possible on Friday with pockets of heavy rain and gusty winds. The forecast high Friday in the Twin Cities is 85 degrees, with a mix of sun and clouds. The greatest chance for storms comes in the evening hours with flooding being the main concern.

Saturday's smoky sunshine will stick around all day as the statewide air quality alert continues through the weekend.
