An unusual traffic stop by Madera California Highway Patrol officers led to the arrest of an alleged DUI driver and the confiscation of a spider monkey.

Discovered in the luxury car during the stop (and subsequent DUI arrest) were cannabis (enough to warrant another charge) and a baby spider monkey. Animal Control took over care for the monkey, who was found wearing a pink onesie and is believed to be 1 month old, according to the CHP.

The California Highway Patrol made an unusual arrest on Monday night and confiscated a spider monkey. A CHP officer stopped a Rolls Royce Ghost in Madera County, California, on north Highway 99, north of Avenue 17, for excessive speed. The driver was allegedly driving under the influence and was arrested.
