The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with its investigation into a fatal shooting in Collinsville.

COLLINSVILLVE, Ill. (WICS) — A Collinsville woman was found dead lying near a garage on Tuesday morning. According to the Collinsville Police Department, at 6 a.m. officers responded to the 1300 block of Olive St. after a report of gunshots being heard in the area.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has identified the female victim of a shooting in Collinsville early Tuesday. Police had responded shortly after 6 a.m. to a report of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of Olive Street and Indiana Avenue, according to a news release posted on Twitter.

A neighbor called police to say she thought she heard a shot across the street, then saw a man in dark clothing run off toward Vandalia Street.

Collinsville Lt. Mark Kuechle later confirmed to the BND that a “homicide” had taken place just after 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Olive Street, and the victim was female. The department has called in the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. Collinsville Lt. Eric Owen is serving as deputy commander.

In a neighbor's security camera video, a woman was screaming, three gunshots went off and the suspect ran away from the home.
