According to the publication, Staten Island resident, Jennifer DiScalo Tricomi said her husband, who works for the NYC Department of Sanitation, is planning to transfer from his Manhattan post in April, as a result of MTA’s $9 base toll into Manhattan south of and including 60th Street.

The tolls went live just after midnight on Sunday, nearly six years after they were first approved by state lawmakers.

The MTA said it can begin collecting the first-in-the-nation congestion fee on Sunday -- January 5 -- following a federal judge's ruling in Newark.

Congestion tolling is scheduled to start on January 5 in NYC, barring any last minute legal challenges. The path to this point has been long and confusing — so drivers have many questions about the MTA’s plan to reduce congestion and raise funds for mass transit improvements.

The toll applies to the most congested part of Manhattan, south of Central Park, below 60th Street and cost drivers $9 a day.

Congestion pricing refers to using electronic tolling to charge vehicles for entering certain areas of Manhattan to reduce traffic congestion and raise money for public transportation upgrades. Drivers will be charged a fee for entering Manhattan’s Congestion Relief Zone (CRZ),
