JOHANNESBURG - The Employment and Labour Department has announced an increase to the national minimum wage, effective in March. The figure is the minimum amount an employer is legally required to remunerate employees for work done and is subject to review annually.

Republicans and Democrats have proposed different changes to the phased-in minimum wage increases in Michigan.

Proposition A, which will increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by January 2026, was approved by 57% of voters in November. Now, Missouri's legislature is considering bills that would exempt more businesses or leave out certain employees.
