WKLY reported late Wednesday morning that Shelby County High School was on lockdown and had a large police presence.

Jose Goevava, 24, was found dead in his Shelby County Jail cell on Oct. 5. He had been booked into the jail earlier that day on a charge of assault family violence. A state custodial death report from the Texas Attorney General’s Office was released Tuesday, saying Goevava died by hanging himself.

Kentucky officials are investigating after a series of weapon threats sent Shelby County area schools into lockdown Wednesday morning. Shelby County Public Schools Superintendent Josh Matthews said in a press conference that law enforcement "has not confirmed any credible threat" and five schools were placed into lockdown,

Shelby County Schools said officials became aware that a threat had been made of a weapon in the area of Rocket Lane.

An email received from the office of the Shelby County Public Schools superintendent says that school district administrators were told around 9:30 a.m. that “a threat had been made of a weapon in the area of Rocket Lane.”
