President Donald Trump has chosen Sean Curran, the agent in charge of his security detail during the 2024 campaign, to be the new director of the US Secret Service, an organization under intense scrutiny following two failed assassination attempts against the then-Republican candidate.

Curran was one of several agents who piled on top of Trump last July after a gunman opened fire on the then presumptive Republican nominee during a campaign rally in Butler, Pa.

The president taps Sean Curran, who has led his security detail, to take over the federal law enforcement agency.
