BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo says Berry the red panda has died. Berry passed away on Wednesday after a medical procedure. “Despite the dedicated efforts of our veterinary and animal care teams, Berry was slow to recover from anesthesia and sadly, did not survive,” The Zoo said in a statement.

“Berry, at 14 years old, lived a long and remarkable life, far exceeding the typical lifespan of 8-10 years in the wild and slightly longer in managed care,” the zoo said in a social media post. The zoo provided a link for anyone interested in donating to red panda conservation efforts.
