A Flood Advisory is in effect for the Austin/Travis County area and parts of Williamson County until tonight (July 8).

Regardless, the process cannot create storms out of thin air. Ken Leppert, an associate professor of atmospheric science at the University of Louisiana Monroe, said it “had absolutely nothing” to do with the flash floods in Texas.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said Tuesday that many of those who are not accounted for were staying in state’s Hill Country but did not register at a camp or hotel.
