The Thane police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Badlapur sexual assault crime accused Akshay Shinde, after he allegedly opened fire at cops, and also filed a case of his accidental death,

Shiv Sena workers celebrated the death of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, in an alleged police encounter. Celebrations included bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets.

Akshay Shinde was the prime accused of the Badlapur rape case where two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted. He was arrested on August 17, five days after he allegedly sexually abused the two girls studying in the kindergarten, aged three and four years, in the school toilet.

Shiv Sena workers celebrated at Badlapur railway station by displaying posters and distributing sweets following the death of sexual assault accused Akshay Shinde, who was shot by police in retaliatory firing.

While Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his Deputy Devendra Fadnavis are defending the police action, the accused's family and opposition parties are claiming foul play in the police's version.

Mumbai: A day after Akshay Shinde, the main accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case involving two nursery school students was shot dead, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi mounted a major offensive on the Eknath Shinde-led Maha Yuti dispensation by picking up loopholes in the police version.

The opposition has started raising questions about the government’s inaction and called it the Mahayuti government’s ’incompetence’. They are also seeking a judicial enquiry into this incident.
