Warner Bros./DC Studios’ “Superman” is keeping a red hot July box office humming with a $56.5 million opening day that includes $22.5 million from Thursday previews. Independent projections now have the first film in James Gunn’s new DC cinematic universe earning a $122 million domestic opening from 4,135 locations.
“Superman” didn’t just fly — the film almost destroyed the competition. The movie was the superhero of Friday’s box office with The Man of Steel rocketing to the top spot. On its opening day, it raked in a heroic $56.5 million, according to The Numbers.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Superman made a collection of Rs 6.9 crores in India.

Gunn had responded to the post, which issued a call to arms to “stand up and fight for SnyderVerse on July 11” (the release date of Superman). “Gunn fired the first shot and killed the SnyderVerse and here is our chance to take the fight back to him,” the post said.
