The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday increased again its forecast odds a Caribbean system will develop into the season’s next tropical depression or storm. As of its 1 p.m. EST tropical outlook, the NHC said a broad area of low pressure in the central Caribbean Sea was producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

A tropical wave in the central Caribbean is closely being monitored by the National Hurricane Center and is being referred to as invest 99L.

We’re less than three weeks away from the official end of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, but a new tropical threat has emerged in the Caribbean Sea. Forecasters say a tropical depression or tropical storm could develop by the end of the week or over the weekend.
