Juan Soto ripped a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth and David Peterson tossed 6 2/3 strong innings, fueling the host New York Mets to a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night.

As the Mets starting rotation continues to lose arms due to injury, David Peterson gave the team exactly what they needed in Thursday's win against the Brewers.

Peterson (6-4) went 6 2⁄3 innings and gave up two runs, five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. It was his first win since June 11, a shutout of the Nationals. Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz got the last seven outs, with Diaz collecting his 18th save.
