On Tuesday, Bennett Durando of the Denver Post reported that Jokić had informed Nuggets brass he would not sign an early three-year, $212 million contract extension on the table for him this summer. Oh, hmm.

Nikola Jokić reportedly won't sign a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets this offseason, but that is not as troubling of a situation for the Western Conference team as it may seem.

Instead, per Durando, Jokic will wait until the summer of 2026—when a significantly more lucrative payday looms. If Jokic signed an extension this summer, it would earn him as much as $212 million over three years. If he waits, he may be able to make as much as $292 million.
