Troopers said William Edward Ricks, 72, of Lutz, was driving a Ford Escape south on U.S. 41 when he turned left into the path of the northbound motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital after the collision, where he died.

When Ricks was making the turn, he collided with the motorcycle, FHP explained in a press release. The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. An investigation revealed that Ricks was driving under the influence at the time of the deadly crash and is now facing a DUI manslaughter charge, FHP says.
