"Superman" is off to a solid start at the box office with $217 million worldwide on opening weekend, in line wiht projections.

“Superman,” the newly rebooted comic book adventure starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, flew to $122 million in its first weekend of release. Those are strong ticket sales, enough to rank as the year’s third-largest debut after “A Minecraft Movie” ($162 million) and “Lilo & Stitch” ($146 million).

Superman sold an average of $29,504 per domestic theater through Sunday, and grossed another $95 million in 78 international markets, for an estimated $217 million global weekend.
