On July 7, 2025, the X page @FearedBuck posted a video of comedian and entrepreneur Charleston White FaceTiming Drake and making a joke that made the rapper crack up.

Drake signed a large music deal with UMG in 2022, said to be worth up to $400 million. UMG also distributes music for Kendrick Lamar. That shared business link has added more drama to the case.

UMG has again moved to dismiss the updated complaint. In court documents, UMG’s lawyers argued that Drake is trying to undermine Lamar’s success rather than raise a legitimate defamation case.

In a surprising move, Drake has taken his grievances from the lyrical arena to the courtroom, filing a lawsuit against his own record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), earlier this year.
