In other words, again, it is not the stick but the recent files. Having eliminated the possibility that the stick has a problem, I conclude that the problem must be with the files themselves. As mentioned above, I suspect the downloaded files have some hidden code which prevent them from being read by USB music devices (but not by Windows).
