Platform 8 is usually used by V/Line, and the last of the dead end platforms at Southern Cross before the electrified “through” platforms 9 to 14 used by Metro Trains Melbourne. But platform 8 has a trick up it’s sleeve – overhead wiring for the use of electric trains.

Sep 19, 2023 · Seriously, that platform just feels haunted. It all way up there and sketchy. To be honest after a jaunt through the CBD southern cross station is one of the cleanest and safest places. There are always police in spencer street for some reason.

Apr 21, 2019 · Southern Cross Station escalator problems have been big news lately. Recent failures have lengthened platform clearance times and delayed trains. Repairs have been tardy. Our biggest station is hindering rather than helping travel for thousands. Initial station design is part of the problem.
