Feb 2, 2022 · DLSS is an image upscaler. When displaying at 1080p DLSS upscales to 1440p in quality mode. Most games I’ll use DLSS if possible and then lower the render resolution to around 90% of 1440p (if I’m going for high frame rate) if you’re looking for visual quality, just lower the settings a bit as unscaled will always be sharper than upscaled.

DLSS turns off TAA and doubles as an anti-aliasing method. Amusingly this is what AMD noticed with FSR. FSR was obviously not a DLSS competitor. It was designed to fix the blurry TAA and was repurposed once DLSS 2.0 dropped. Once DLSS 2.0 demonstrated how good it was AMD had to come up with an answer.

It's blatantly obvious that dlss blurs image even that ltt video comparing dlss vs native is clear as day. At 4k aliasing is barely noticeable and not worth blurring the entire image so you don't see shimmering on powerlines and fences, which is the only place shimmering would matter at 4k.

Jun 1, 2022 · DLSS is a trade off, handling the spinning a bit worse, but the attack a bit better. FSR struggles with this, however. The grass gets very sparkly for a moment after the blades are gone, which again, is noticeable even in Quality Mode, and will get worse with lower modes.

DLSS 1.0 is only Off/On, DLSS 2.x is when we started having actual options with Ultra Performance > Performance > Balanced > Quality. There is also an "Ultra Quality" DLSS settings, that has only been found in certain games with readable config files, and isn't enabled/functional in any known games with DLSS support thus far.

I have a 65" OLED and Hellblade rendered internslly at 720p with DLSS almost looks the same as native 4K with TAA. Dec 28, 2022 · Plus having DLSS on reduces basically the powerdraw of the card while upping the fps to the monitor limit, so its a win win basically. i can run most games in native 4k with 120 or 144fps and draw something like 380-390W or i can use dlss and bring the W down under 300 and hit the same fps and have (in my opinion!) better image quality.

This isn't a straight DLSS On vs Off test. This is a comparison of DLSS vs render scaling. In the 1440p case render scaling gave you better gains, in the 1080p case it came out about equal. We also saw from the previous Fortnite test that the game seemed to have slight input lag improvements running at lower resolutions.
